Job Summary
Sheet Metal Technician III at BAC is responsible for parts fabrication and material movement in a safe, quality-conscious manner within the Sheet Metal team. The role may flex to other departments as volume dictates and requires owning safety, assisting Senior Mechanics, and performing functions such as Press Brake operations and preventive maintenance, shear operations, die changes, material kitting, and basic CNC tooling. The incumbent will meet daily production goals, maintain equipment, support the highest quality standards, and collaborate across the fabrication team while actively learning to become a world-class mechanic. The position emphasizes reading blueprints, using precision measurement tools, and adherence to Lean, 5S, and safety practices, with potential brief cross-functional flexing as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Read a tape measure and perform basic fractional calculations
- Competent in reading blue prints and reference drawings
- Competent in the use of critical measurement equipment including: micrometers, tape measures, dial calipers, square, protractor
- Knowledgeable of sheet metal quality standards and General Customer Expectations standards
- Know how to correctly perform first part quality checks
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment including pallet jacks, and jib cranes as required
- Team work and collaboration
- Knowledge of Lean Basics, 5S standards, the Seven Wastes, and how their application
- Knowledge of all safety requirements associated with tasks
