Job Summary
Supervise sheet metal foremen, field crews, and subcontractors on assigned commercial projects while directly performing skilled construction tasks. Coordinate work across different crafts and departments, determine construction methods and manpower levels, and manage material take-offs and ordering. Conduct weekly safety meetings, resolve construction issues, and monitor production, on-time delivery, and cost control. Identify and document change orders, ensure quality installation, and act as a liaison with engineering and estimating teams to maintain compliance with drawings and specifications. Build positive relationships with clients, customers, and vendors while enforcing safety standards and following company procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of commercial experience in the field as Superintendent on sheet metal or HVAC operations
- Extensive knowledge of Sheet Metal / HVAC systems installation
- Ability to successfully supervise large crews (20+)
- Knowledge of other mechanical trade disciplines
- Previous knowledge of man hour reports, job cost reports, workforce planning and estimating
- Advanced understanding of construction cost control, forecasting and setting goals
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients and colleagues
- OSHA 30 and CPR
- Demonstrated knowledge of, reading, interpreting and working to: Design drawings (isometric and orthographic), design guides, specifications
- Support Drawings and specifications
- Contract documents and site coordination of subcontractors
- Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
- Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
- Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- 10 years' experience in a heavy mechanical construction environment as Superintendent
- Prior experience working hands on in the sheet metal field as Mechanic or Foreman
- Prior military experience
