Shear Operator

Job Summary
Bend, cut, bundle, and load reinforcing steel bars in accordance with customer orders. Operate shearing, bending, Fabmatic, and power saw machines to fabricate bars to specified lengths, while reading shop drawings and cut lists for accuracy. Move and assemble material using an overhead crane, unload trailers, and store items in bins. Apply epoxy touch-up with a spray gun and maintain the shop in a clean, safe manner. Assist other employees with tasks as needed. Overtime and any shift work may be required; heavy lifting is necessary in a noisy, dusty, hot, or cold environment. Adhere strictly to Nucor Rebar Fabrication's safety policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three years experience in rebar shop setting
- Experience operating a shearing machine
- Must have basic math skills to be able to calculate bar measurements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to work any shift
- Must be familiar with, and adhere to shop safety policies and procedures
- Some heavy lifting
