Job Summary
Designer-first SharePoint role focused on page design, information architecture, navigation, templates, and content governance; not a backend/dev or PowerShell role. Design modern SharePoint Online pages and reusable templates that are visually consistent, on-brand, accessible, and easy to use. Define site structure, hub navigation, taxonomy/managed metadata, tagging, and search optimization. Create reusable templates, content guidelines, and design standards for a large site network (200+ sites). Manage the full content lifecycle, including intake, approvals, versioning, publishing, and retirement with governance and audit-ready practices. Partner with business owners to gather requirements, produce wireframes/mockups, and iterate based on feedback and site analytics. Maintain site quality through broken-link checks, image optimization, and periodic content reviews. Track usage and behavior to identify opportunities for content consolidation, promotion, and decommissioning, translating insights into UX improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Strong portfolio of modern SharePoint or web design work showcasing clean layouts, intuitive navigation, and consistent visual systems; portfolio submission required.
- Hands-on experience with SharePoint Online page design, hub/site navigation, managed metadata, search configuration, and content approvals.
- Proficiency in front-end presentation for SharePoint: HTML/CSS for styling within governance boundaries, image optimization, and accessibility fundamentals (WCAG).
- Expertise in information architecture and content strategy: taxonomy design, labeling, template creation, and editorial standards.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement: requirements gathering, mockups/wireframes, design reviews, and clear documentation.
- Organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple pages/sites and prioritize updates by impact and audience.
- Working knowledge of analytics tools; ability to interpret engagement data and guide design decisions.
- Site quality management capabilities: broken-link checks, performance-aware page composition, and periodic content reviews.
