Job Summary
Implement Savage's S7 System safety, health, and environmental plan across FMI Safford Mine, Morenci Mine, and Sulphur Transportation Operation. Develop regulatory training, lead root cause investigations, and conduct internal and customer safety audits. Ensure full compliance with OSHA, MSHA, FRA, DOT, and EPA while supporting operations during incidents and hazard assessments. Work closely with the Operation Manager and Supervisors to enforce safety rules, report incidents, and track leading indicators at the Safford Maintenance Office and mines. Spend time in the field observing activities and interface with contractor safety teams. Full-time role with less than 20% travel; Bachelor's degree preferred with 3+ years in industrial transportation or mine operations.
Required Qualifications
- Broad knowledge and understanding of safety, including OSHA, MSHA, DOT
- Experience in an industrial setting
- Ability to analyze situations and data to make sound decisions
- Computer skills (MS Office Suite)
- Excellent communication skills, written and spoken
- Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking
- Valid State Driver's License
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety or a related field is preferred
- 3+ years' experience working in the Transportation or Mine Operations
- 3+ years' experience working in an industrial setting with Transportation Equipment or Mines
- Hold a safety certification recognized by an accredited organization or be able to obtain certification within the first 12 months. Examples include ASP, SMS, OHST, or CET
- Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
- Ability to climb ladders or stairs
- Ability to work at waist level or below
- Ability to work indoors in an office environment, as well as outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Willing to always wear appropriate PPE when needed and set an example
- Less than 20% travel
- 10% travel required
