Job Summary
Conduct general care and maintenance of Aquarium facilities, including Shark Experience, Sting Ray Bay, Koi Pond, and Quarantine areas. Perform in-tank maintenance such as scrubbing algae, vacuuming sand, and cleaning windows. Prepare and record diet, assist with animal feeding and training, and participate in restraint and transport operations. Check pumps, filters, and fish health daily, reporting problems immediately to Aquarium Leadership. Assist with educational programs, guest relations, and housekeeping duties. Maintain life support systems for Sting Ray Bay and Shark Basin while following all safety policies.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- high school diploma or equivalent
- valid driver license
- comfortable speaking in front of large crowds
- articulate and able to clearly speak, read, and write in English
- good vision and hearing
- willing to listen and follow both written and verbal instructions
- SCUBA certification
- mechanical aptitude and have the knowledge to use basic power and hand tools
- able to work with chemicals and follow SDS and have knowledge of basic chemistry
- willing and able to work 40 hours a week, both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions
- willing and able to work in and around saltwater and electrical equipment
- strong swimming skills
- available to work weekends and holidays
- mental and physical capacities necessary to perform primary responsibilities and pass an annual physical exam and stress test
- able to lift up to 60 lbs
