Sexual Assault Advocate

Job Summary
Provide empathetic, confidential support to survivors of sexual assault through active listening and crisis intervention. Assist in educating survivors about their rights, available resources, and options for medical, legal, and emotional support. Participate in training sessions and supervision meetings to develop advocacy skills and trauma-informed approaches. Collaborate with healthcare providers, law enforcement, and community organizations to coordinate comprehensive care for survivors. Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and services provided in accordance with organizational policies. Work Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with a 60-minute unpaid lunch/break period, including flexibility based on client needs and an on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting survivors of sexual violence or vulnerable populations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development
- Schedule is Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with a 60-minute unpaid lunch/break period
- Flexibility needed based on client needs
- Part of an oncall rototation required
- All positions require a screening through the Clearinghouse
Desired Qualifications
- Experience or coursework in social work, psychology, counseling, or related fields
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and crisis intervention techniques
- 1 year of work experience in advocacy, victim services, or community outreach
- Basic knowledge of legal and medical systems related to sexual assault response
- Cultural competency
- Bilingual abilities
