Job Summary
Conduct individual, family, and group counseling for children and families while providing mental health assessments and evaluations. Deliver training and education to teachers, school staff, and students to promote healthy learning environments, and assist in developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Maintain active caseloads of therapy clients, complete assessments within two weeks, and ensure all HRMC and CARF documentation standards are met. Interface professionally with school personnel and other agencies to provide advocacy, linkage, and referral services. Work Monday through Friday with potential travel to family homes, requiring a Master's degree in human services and two years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in a human services field such as counselor or social work
- Two (2) years' experience working with children with emotional or behavioral problems
- Two (2) years of experience with adolescent substance use/abuse prevention
- A combination of the two (2) years' experience options
- Experience leading groups and trainings
- Course work in the areas of cultural diversity
- Course work in the areas of human development
- Course work in the areas of etiology and treatment of mental illness
- Course work in the areas of alcohol and drug abuse
- Course work in the areas of physical and sexual abuse
- Course work in the areas of trauma
- Course work in the areas of suicide
- Course work in the areas of learning disorders
- Experience or training in the Re-Education Philosophy
- Licensed or licensed eligible
- Ability to effectively and ethically counsel children and families
- Ability to present professionally and work within a team format to plan, implement, and evaluate successful interventions
- Ability to effectively run and process groups with children and families
- Ability to work within a team format to meet positive goals for children and interface with other agencies involved in the ecology of the family
