Severe Needs Teacher - West Middle School

Job Summary
Develop coursework to support effective instruction of students with affective and severe needs at the school level. Instruct students in large, small, and one-on-one settings; plan, prepare, and implement course content, individualized programs, lesson plans, and learning activities; administer and grade assignments; design assessment tasks and use data to adjust instruction. Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunities, monitor student progress, and communicate progress and needs with parents and staff. Collaborate with teachers and administrators to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes; participate in department, team, and district meetings and professional development opportunities; perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license
- Colorado Special Education Teacher endorsement for assigned program
- Three (3) years of professional teaching experience
- Mandatory biennial Crisis Prevention Intervention training provided by the District
- Use of personal transportation or vehicle not required
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire
- Intermediate communication, organization, and human relations skills
- Ability to align curriculum and assessments with state content standards
- Ability to support programs designed to increase student achievement
- Ability to lead in development and communication of curriculum
- Ability to work as a team member
- Ability to participate in Professional Learning Community
- Ability to understand and accommodate diverse student needs
- Role model and innovative learner with current instructional practice knowledge
