Job Summary
Set up and operate conventional and numerical control machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by applying machine shop theory and procedures. Follow process sheets for tooling installation, offsets, and fixtures while interpreting engineering drawings to ensure first-piece approval and quality specifications. Perform accurate counts, check cycle times, and report equipment malfunctions or process deviations. Continually look for ways to improve manufacturing processes through new fixtures or combined operations. Maintain a clean work area and adhere to all safety procedures, with physical demands including lifting up to 50lbs and exposure to dust or loud noises.
Required Qualifications
- General knowledge of machining techniques and methods
- Ability to set up and operate CNC machining equipment
- Ability to interpret engineering part drawings
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment
- Ability to follow process sheets
- Ability to receive and execute written or verbal instruction
- High school diploma or GED
- 5 years of machining experience
- Knowledge of machine shop theory
- Knowledge of shop mathematics
- Ability to load work programs
- Ability to take offsets
- Ability to find zero
- Ability to perform first piece approval
- Ability to report malfunctions of machining equipment
- Ability to report process deviations
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments
- Ability to ensure machined items meet quality specifications
- Ability to look for ways to improve the manufacturing process
- Ability to check cycle times
- Ability to keep work area clean and in order
- Ability to follow all company safety procedures and guidelines
- Ability to lift up to 20lbs
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Ability to pass a drug screen (as applicable)
