Settlement Social Worker

Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive client assessments on health, mental health, abilities, and needs for newcomer refugee families. Deliver social work services in office, school, and home settings while performing crisis intervention and solutions-focused guidance. Build trust-based relationships respecting religious and cultural backgrounds to facilitate access to specialized services, accommodations, and resources for education, health, and social integration. Maintain continuous follow-up to ensure community resource appointments and client milestones are met. Develop presentations for clients, staff, and community partners; maintain case files, statistics, and stakeholder reports according to deadlines. Actively participate in local and national committees and workshops to share best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Social Work
- Registered Social Worker
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity working with a diverse client group
- Social work skills working with clients (children, youth and adults) that may have experienced complex trauma, violence, mental health, and addictions
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
- Strong communication skills
- Team-oriented
- Ability to prioritize referrals and multitask
- Skilled in crisis intervention and conflict resolution
- Knowledge of child welfare and community development services
- Competency in case file management and preparing stakeholder reports
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
- Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)
- Some travel
- Valid class 5 driver's license
- Daily access to a vehicle
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
