Job Summary
Settlement Counsellor providing settlement and counseling services to newcomers and immigrant students in Barrie and Simcoe County. Responsibilities include screening for program eligibility, guiding students and families with solution-focused counseling, making referrals to community services, assisting with school integration and ongoing follow-ups, participating in case management meetings, delivering newcomer workshops and resource information, coordinating workshops for school faculty, and promoting immigrant programming within the community. Requires knowledge of settlement services, strong communication and facilitation skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to work flexible hours; Urdu language skills and knowledge of Education Act/AODA/Child Safeguarding are assets. Must have post-secondary education or equivalent settlement training, a valid driver's license with access to a vehicle for county-wide travel, and willingness to complete required trainings including police checks. Compensation is CAD 24.89/hour with extended benefits after probation and pension after two years; role is in-person with remote delivery as noted in the posting.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education from a recognized community college or university, preferably in social services or settlement; or equivalent settlement training/work experience
