Job Summary
Lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to set up structural forms by reading blueprints and machine drawings. Perform laying out, cutting, bending, forming, and assembly operations using fixtures and positioners to prepare parts for welding. Verify conformance to specifications, bolt and tack-weld components to secure them, and align pieces using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment. Test and inspect welded surfaces, operate overhead cranes or forklifts as needed, and maintain a clean work area. Requires three years of set-up weld experience, ability to pass a 2G weld test, and knowledge of metal properties. Flexible schedule commitment required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience doing set-up welds
- ability to pass a 2G weld test
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.)
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, welding process specifications and welding symbols
- Knowledgeable of different kinds of metal and their properties
- Ability to commit to flexible schedule and prompt arrival for shifts
Desired Qualifications
- Experience operating a forklift and/or overhead crane preferred
