Job Summary
Population Genetics course for Sessional Lecturer at University of Toronto Mississauga. Responsibilities include preparation and delivery of course material, assignments/tests/exams, supervising teaching assistants, grading, submitting grades, and maintaining regular office hours. In-person lectures occur Thursdays 6:00 PM–9:00 PM; familiarity with Canvas-based technologies, Zoom, Quercus, and related teaching platforms is preferred. Qualifications include a PhD in Molecular Biology (completed) or an ABD with active student status, or a Masters with 5+ years of forensic biology experience; expertise in genetic analysis, forensic biology, DNA sequencing interpretation, evolutionary forces, quantitative genetics, and Bayesian statistics. Preference for forensic science background, research and casework experience, expert-witness exposure, and teaching-delivery proficiency in university settings.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD (completed or ABD with active student status at issuing institution) in Molecular Biology or a Masters (completed) with 5+ years of experience in forensic biology practices.
- Experience with Genetic analysis, Forensic Biology, interpretation of DNA sequencing, evolutionary forces, quantitative genetics, and Bayesian statistics.
- Duties include preparation and delivery of course material, preparation and delivery of assignments/tests/exams, supervision of teaching assistants, grading, submission of grades, and maintaining regular office hours; in-person instruction is the mode unless notified otherwise.
- Preferred: forensic science background, research, lab experience, expert witness in Canadian court, teaching excellence, experience with university systems (Canvas, Quercus, Zoom).
