Job Summary
Forensic Pathology course lecturer at University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) teaching a general introduction to forensic pathology with emphasis on death investigation, cause/manner/time of death, and critical review of literature. Responsibilities include preparation and delivery of course material, assignments, tests/exams, supervision of teaching assistants (including instruction on grading and office hours), submission of grades, and maintaining regular office hours. The mode is in-person (lectures Thursday 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM) with potential changes communicated in advance. Applicants should hold a medical degree (MD/MBBS) or PhD in a closely related field, have 5+ years of forensic casework experience, and possess strong knowledge of Canadian death investigations. Preferred qualifications include 5+ years as a forensic pathologist or related field, experience as an expert witness, and familiarity with course-delivery tools (e.g., University systems such as Canvas, Quercus, Zoom). Salary is set per CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement and may be co-taught with salary divisions according to teaching load. Required Qualifications
- Completion of medical degree (MD, MD-CM, or MBBS) and active good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, or a PhD (completed or ABD with active student status) in Forensic Anthropology (or closely related field)
- 5+ years of forensic casework
- Experience, knowledge and specialized training in human anatomy and pathology
- Demonstrated excellence in course subject matter; knowledge of Canadian-based death investigations
- If co-teaching, both instructors must meet minimum qualifications
- PreferredQualifications: 5+ years of experience as a Forensic Pathologist or closely related field; experience as an expert witness; experience with course delivery in university systems (e.g., Canvas, Zoom)
