Job Summary

Delivery of FSC302H5S: Advanced Forensic Identification focusing on advanced crime scene examination, fingerprint development, footwear identification, and evidence reporting. Topics include analysis report writing, bloodstain pattern interpretation, crime scene plan drawing, biometrics, examiner bias, the expert witness, and courtroom testimony. In-person lectures (Thursdays) and practicals/tutorials (Fridays) with TA supervision, grading responsibilities, and regular office hours. Course runs January 1, 2027 – April 30, 2027 with an estimated enrolment of 40 students; minimum requirement includes a B.Sc. in Forensic Science and extensive field experience in Canadian policing contexts. Preference for active/retired police officers and prior teaching experience; familiarity with University of Toronto systems (Quercus, Canvas, Zoom) is desirable.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed a B.Sc. degree in Forensic Science
  • 5-10 or more years of experience in crime scene investigation
  • Experience and training in Forensic Identification
  • Demonstrated excellence in course subject matter
  • Knowledge and experience in Canadian Forensic Identification protocols, procedures & techniques within Canadian Policing Services
  • Case experience with a police agency
