This role classifies products under import/export regulations and determines eligibility for regulatory programs, serving as a liaison between UPS and government entities to resolve issues with customs declarations, shipping restrictions, and tax payments. Responsibilities include substantiating classification decisions using GROI, Explanatory Notes, CROSS, and related resources; conducting Country of Origin verification with suppliers; managing product databases and classification data in Excel and Access; entering classifications into the proprietary operating system; and proactively communicating with customers to educate them on regulatory procedures. Key skills include knowledge of US CBP regulations, international trade/freight forwarding concepts, data management, regulatory interpretation, and effective customer communication.
