Job Summary
Services Estimating Manager oversees a team of service estimators responsible for developing accurate labor, material, and subcontractor cost estimates for service-based projects; ensures estimates align with pricing strategies and project profitability goals; coordinates with sales, project management, and field operations to reflect real-world execution and scope; maintains estimating tools and historical data libraries to support efficiency and consistency; duties include supervising, mentoring, ensuring timely delivery of estimates and proposals, performing quality control on estimates, maintaining pricing databases, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to clarify project scope and identify constraints or value-add opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in cost estimating or proposal development, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role
- Strong knowledge of service operations, including labor planning and material costing
- Proficiency with estimating software and advanced Microsoft Excel (cost models, pivot tables)
- Proven ability to manage a team under tight deadlines across multiple project types
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on margin discipline and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and experience coordinating with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with ERP systems and CRM platforms preferred
