Job Summary
The Service Writer position focuses on consulting with customers to educate them about vehicle conditions based on MPI inspections, delivering VIP customer experiences, and supporting the Service Manager with execution of VIP programs and standards. Responsibilities include maintaining safety, communicating effectively with team members, participating in LMS and vendor trainings, achieving strong customer engagement as measured by SAX scores, understanding and applying VIP processes, coordinating and dispatching work orders to technicians, and ensuring facility and equipment readiness. The role requires ASE certifications (C1, with P2 and G1 recommended), a valid driver’s license, safety certifications, and adherence to codes and procedures. The position operates in a 5-day, 40-hour work week in a physically active automotive service environment and emphasizes teamwork, communication, and compliance with service codes and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- One year of related experience in automotive service field
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- ASE Certification C1– Service Consultant required
- ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- State Inspection License Required (where applicable)
