Job Summary
The Service Writer role in Portland, ME at VIP focuses on delivering an exceptional customer experience by consulting with customers on vehicle conditions, educating them on findings from MPI inspections, and coordinating with the service team to execute VIP processes and standards. The position emphasizes effective communication, teamwork, adherence to safety and service policies, training participation (including LMS and vendor trainings), and professional certifications (ASE C1 required, P2 and G1 recommended), with responsibilities spanning customer engagement, service guidance, work-order dispatch, and facility/department maintenance to support high-performance service delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Sound business sense, with the ability to analyze, prioritize, identify, and implement solutions
- Strong organization and time management skills
- A comprehensive understanding of automotive servicing and the industry
- One year of related experience in automotive service field
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- ASE Certification C1– Service Consultant required
- ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- State Inspection License Required (where applicable)
