Job Summary
Service Writer at VIP Automotive in Rochester, NH, reports to Service Manager. Responsible for delivering exceptional customer experience by consulting with customers about vehicle conditions based on MPI inspections, educating them on VIP processes, and helping the team achieve VIP program standards. Duties include safety compliance, assisting with customer engagement to improve SAX scores, completing LMS and vendor trainings, obtaining ASE certifications (C1, with P2 and G1 recommended), communicating effectively with the team, coordinating service orders, and maintaining the service area and equipment. The role requires a 5-day work week (40 hours) with a focus on service desk operations, accurate appointment communication, and adherence to the Code of Ethics and applicable regulations. Minimum education suggested is a two-year college/technical program; one year of related automotive experience preferred. Must hold a valid driver’s license and relevant safety certifications; ASE certification(s) and State Inspection License as applicable are required/recommended. The environment is an indoor service department with potential exposure to weather and noise; physical demands include standing, lifting, and manual dexterity. Pay type is hourly.
Required Qualifications
- One year of related experience in automotive service field
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- ASE Certification C1 – Service Consultant required
- ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- State Inspection License Required (where applicable)
