Job Summary
The Service Writer role at VIP in Bennington, VT involves consulting with customers to educate them about the condition of their vehicle based on MPI inspection results, following VIP processes to deliver an exceptional customer experience, and helping the team meet VIP standards. Responsibilities include safety leadership, effective communication, assisting with dispatch and work-order allocation, training and certification pursuit (LMS, vendor training, BATS, TPMS, ASE), maintaining a clean and compliant service area, and participating in regular store meetings. The position requires an automotive service background (minimum 1 year), preferred two-year technical college, valid driver’s license, and industry certifications (ASE family) where applicable. The role is non-exempt and hourly, with a standard 40-hour workweek, and reports to the Service Manager.
Required Qualifications
- One year of related experience in automotive service field
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- ASE Certification C1 – Service Consultant required
- ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- State Inspection License Required (where applicable)
- ASE Certification (C1)
- Ability to communicate effectively with team
- Safety training and LMS completion
- BATS certification and TPMS knowledge
- VIP processes and standards knowledge
- MPI vehicle inspection knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Understanding of automotive servicing and industry
