Job Summary
The Service Writer position in Bath, ME supports VIP’s automotive service customer experience by consulting with customers, educating them on vehicle conditions, and coordinating with the service team to execute VIP programs and standards. Responsibilities emphasize safety compliance, effective communication, vehicle inspections (MPI), and driving customer engagement to improve SAX performance. The role requires learning VIP processes, completing LMS and vendor trainings, achieving ASE and related certifications (C1, P2, G1), and assisting with scheduling, dispatching work orders to technicians, and maintaining a clean, compliant service environment. Key skills include excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and time-management abilities, automotive servicing knowledge, and the ability to work a 5-day, 40-hour week with adherence to service standards and team collaboration. Required qualifications include one year of automotive service experience, a two-year college or technical program (or equivalent experience), a valid driver's license, and relevant ASE certifications and licensing.
Required Qualifications
- One year of related experience in automotive service field
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- ASE Certification C1 – Service Consultant required
- ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- State Inspection License Required (where applicable)
