Job Summary
Service Technician responsible for diagnosing issues and performing repairs on heavy equipment across shop and field settings. Duties include inspecting and diagnosing mechanical deficiencies on heavy equipment, repairing mobile equipment in field environments, welding and brazing, fabricating parts and structures, repairing components of engine hydraulic systems, air conditioning, suspension, drive trains, electrical systems, steering, braking, and material handling, and ensuring safety and quality standards. Requires willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays, compliance with DOT requirements, ability to travel including overnight stays, strong problem-solving skills, and effective communication with supervisors and customers to document cause and correction of repairs. Minimum high school diploma or GED; technical schooling preferred; DOT certification and driving record requirements apply.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of High School diploma or GED
- Technical school graduate preferred
- Experience with Volvo construction equipment a plus
- Experience with paving equipment a plus
- Must possess and maintain acceptable safe driving record
- Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Certification
- Must be willing to travel and work remotely as required including overnight stays
- General knowledge of complex hydraulic, electrical, and drive-train systems
- Exhibits strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to diagnosis and repair hydraulic, electrical, drive-train and air conditioning systems
- General welding and fabrication skills
- Thorough understanding of equipment operation
- Thorough understanding of electrical and hydraulic test equipment
- Ability to read, analyze and interrupt technical information from general hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Communication Skills
- Written communication skills
- Ability to read and follow written instructions
- Must be able to effectively communicate with supervisor and customer indicating cause and correction of machine repair
