Job Summary

Conduct daily vehicle inspections, load, and transfer propane to residential and commercial customers while maintaining compliance with DOT, Hazmat, and safety regulations. Install, set, inspect, and repair propane tanks, piping, regulators, and appliances including water heaters and furnaces in accordance with NFPA 54 and 58 standards. Perform gas leak tests, pressure tests, and preventative maintenance on customer systems, responding to emergency service calls for gas leaks or equipment failures. Safely operate vehicles, cranes, and trenching equipment while completing electronic work orders and educating customers on safe propane usage. Participate in rotating on-call schedules for after-hours emergency response and maintain all tools and inventory in a serviceable condition.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement or the ability to obtain within company-established timeframes
  • Hazmat Endorsement or ability to obtain within company-established timeframes
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
  • Ability to pass all DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties safely
  • Ability to read and interpret installation manuals, piping diagrams, technical specifications, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to safely work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
  • Basic computer and mobile device skills for electronic documentation and work order completion
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver propane equipment, cylinders, tools, and materials weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to dig trenches, install underground service lines, and perform physically demanding outdoor work
  • Ability to work at varying heights using ladders and elevated work platforms
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, and uneven terrain
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including flame-resistant clothing, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when required
  • Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of NFPA 54 and NFPA 58 standards
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations applicable to propane operations
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple service calls efficiently
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, dispatchers, and supervisors
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and a positive attitude

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum one (1) year of propane service, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, utility, or related field experience
  • Working knowledge of propane equipment, regulators, piping systems, appliances, combustion systems, and pressure testing procedures
