Job Summary

Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical systems on commercial transport trucks, including chassis and drivetrain components. Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes and lubrication, while utilizing OEM diagnostic procedures to identify defects. Conduct diagnostic road tests and adjust, replace, or repair parts across over 10,000 trucks serviced annually. Communicate repair plans to supervisors and remain accountable to the Service Manager and Shop Foreman. Tag warranty and customer parts as required. Journeyman Technicians provide training and leadership for Registered Apprentices and participate in internal and vendor training programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary school
  • Completion of a four-year Truck and Transport Technician Apprenticeship
  • 4+ years of work experience
  • Red Seal Trade Certification
  • Superior mechanical aptitude with an in-depth knowledge of heavy duty truck repairs
  • Strong computer skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Strong personal organizational skills as they relate to workload, time management and setting priorities in an unsupervised environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Valid inspection ticket to perform commercial vehicle inspections is an asset
  • Valid class 1 OR 3 Driver's License with airbrake endorsement is an asset
