Job Summary
Examine boats to discuss damage or malfunction with customers, then perform diagnostics and repair of marine engines, transmissions, and generators. Remove engines or outdrives, disassemble units to inspect parts, and overhaul systems including carburetors, pumps, and electrical components. Rebuild cylinder blocks, rewire ignition systems, and install accessories like radios and heaters. Operate hydraulic jacks for water testing and complete all repairs using the service scheduler within established timeframes. Advise customers and insurance adjusters on necessary work while ensuring warranty compliance with manufacturer guidelines. Maintain MarineMax tools according to company standards.
Required Qualifications
- Experience performing diagnostics and repair of marine engines, transmissions, drives, and generators
- Ability to perform mechanical repair work including removing engines, transoms, or outdrives
- Skill in disassembling units and inspecting parts for wear
- Capability to overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, pumps, electrical, and fuel systems
- Ability to rebuild parts such as engine cylinder blocks
- Experience rewiring ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels
- Skill in replacing and adjusting taillights
- Ability to install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers
- Capability to operate a hydraulic jack or hoist
- Ability to advise customers and/or insurance adjusters as to necessary repairs
- Experience completing repair work utilizing service schedulers and SSOs within established timeframes
- Knowledge of manufacturer's and MarineMax guidelines for warranty work
- Ability to safely operate MarineMax and customer vessels during diagnostic water testing operations
- Ability to maintain MarineMax tools in good condition and according to guidelines
- Eligibility to work in the United States as confirmed by E-Verify
