Job Summary
Service Technician III, based in San Francisco, CA, provides advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic transit-vehicle systems. Acts as SME, leads service projects, offers remote and on-site technical assistance, mentors junior technicians, supports production quality control and engineering improvements, and may deliver technical training to external customers or internal teams. Requires 5+ years of experience, HS diploma or GED, valid driver’s license with ability to obtain a commercial license, and willingness to travel up to ~70% (air travel). ASE/EPA certifications are a plus; strong reading of blueprints/diagrams and proficiency with diagnostic tools are needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 5+ years of relevant service/repair experience in a manufacturing, automotive, or equipment-based environment
- Valid driver’s license; must be able to obtain a commercial license
- Certifications (ASE, EPA) a plus
- Proficient reading of blueprints, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals
- Ability to travel frequently, including overnight and emergency assignments
- Willing and able to travel frequently, including overnight and emergency assignments
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and project coordination skills
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
