Job Summary
Receive repair order assignments from the Shop Foreman and perform work in a timely, thorough manner while maintaining superior workmanship standards. Advise the foreman of recommended service changes and determine if further repairs or servicing should be suggested to the customer. Maintain accurate work order records of all time clocked jobs and attend training sessions as required by the Service Manager. Perform additional repairs when equipment is returned due to faulty workmanship and ensure all specialized equipment and machinery are serviced correctly. This role requires a minimum of two to three years of experience in medium and/or heavy truck repair, a valid Class A or B CDL, and a VA State Inspector's certification. The position involves physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in environments with noise, vibration, and exhaust fumes. Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience in medium and/or heavy truck repair and maintenance
- Outstanding mechanical aptitude and skills necessary to produce top results
- A VA State Inspector's certification or willingness to obtain it
- A valid class A or B CDL or the willingness to obtain one
- Personal motivation and self-reliance
- Desire to be the driver of team success
- Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions and information
- Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand six to eight hours per shift
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel
- Must be able to use hand and power tools, hoist and test equipment
- Must be able to work while exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
