Job Summary
Perform routine maintenance checks, adjustments, and repairs on heavy construction and mining machinery, including fluid levels, brakes, tires, and engine tuning. Diagnose malfunctions, disassemble units, and replace parts across cooling, drive, brake, electrical, steering, and hydraulic systems. Service track drive components, hydrostatic transmissions, and speed tandem drive axles while ensuring all work is completed proficiently and safely. Clean shop workspaces after every job and maintain good client relations. Work Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with weekend hours as necessary, in conditions that may include inclement weather or hazardous environments.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 2 years of experience in the construction and mining machinery industry
- working knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of machinery and engines
- knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of equipment
- skills in the use of a variety of hand tools, mechanized tools, jacks, and hoists
- skills in the use of a variety of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment, and the use of gas and electric welding equipment
- ability to pass and maintain drug and alcohol testing requirement as outlined by WPI's policy
- ability to lift 50 pounds, and be able to bend and twist several times a day
- ability to read manuals and schematics, rebuild engines and major driveline components
- ability to effectively operate test equipment, and have good trouble-shooting skills
- ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics
- current driver's license and acceptable driving record per WPI insurance carrier standards when driving a company vehicle
- dependable and work independently
