Job Summary
Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations across departments. Serves as mentor and coach, implements strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales while meeting customer needs efficiently. Maintains store appearance and product presentation to Meijer standards. Responsibilities include staffing, hiring, development and promotion decisions, disciplinary actions, and accountability for the department's P&L and shrink. Models exceptional, fast, friendly customer service and communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings. Ensures thorough training, safety, and a positive store image, with a focus on staffing, training, and coaching to exceed sales and service goals. Promotes a safe work environment and requires reliable attendance; performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent required
- 2-3 years of related retail experience
- One year of management experience
- Rotational assignments in other areas of the store (meat, bakery, produce and deli) and customer service/product flow experience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict by addressing root cause issues
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions
- Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling
- Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across roles (SDITs, hourly team members, team leaders)
- Successful completion of all required certifications
