Service Supplier Development Engineer

Job Summary
Engage with suppliers for industrialization and readiness across multiple automotive components, supporting supplier selection and capability assessment aligned with program timelines. Drive APQP discipline and enforce PPAP requirements, ensuring suppliers meet dimensional, material, and performance validation before production approval. Track industrialization project KPIs, including on-time PPAP submission, process capability indices, defect rates, and issue closure effectiveness. Evaluate and validate manufacturing processes through audits, PFMEA reviews, control plan validation, and equipment capability assessments. Optimize supplier manufacturing scalability during ramp-up phases and facilitate problem resolution using focused problem solving to address defects and launch roadblocks. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to drive VA/VE cost optimization while maintaining quality standards. Up to 50% travel required; reports through the Service Supplier Quality Engineering Team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or other related field
- Strong Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) development, Lean manufacturing, Traceability requirements
- Technical expertise of automotive components designs and manufacturing, including knowledge of safety and test requirements and appearance approval process
- Knowledge of Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T) and datum structures
- Experience in Extrusion and fabrication commodities
- VDA 6.3 credentials
- Understanding of IATF16949:2016
- Understanding of ISO14001
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for 8-10 hours per day
- Required to communicate using phone and/or e-mail
- Ability to view, read, and interpret documents
- Ability to perform all duties in an office environment that may contain ambient noise and temperature fluctuations
- Up to 50% travel requirement
Desired Qualifications
- VDA 6.3 credentials and understanding preferred
- ISO9001 is also a preferred knowledge set
