Job Summary
Cashier and customer service duties at Brookshire Grocery Company front end, ensuring accurate checkout totals, proper product stocking, and friendly, clean shopping experiences. Responsibilities include weighing, keying, and scanning items; counting cash in register; enforcing quality control and food safety; monitoring prices and stock levels; unloading trucks; maintaining fuel station operations; and responding to customer inquiries. Requires familiarity with tender policies (checks, credit, debit, coupons, EBT, WIC, AML, etc.), and the ability to communicate effectively, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and work flexible schedules. Certifications such as TABC/LACT/AATC, Food Handler, and Fuel Operator C are required. Education and background typically involve on-the-job training.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years of age (for partners operating select machinery)
- Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy
- TABC/LACT/AATC certification required
- Food Handler certification required
- Fuel Operator C certification required
- Basic knowledge of cash register
- Basic knowledge of WFM (Workforce Management)
- Basic knowledge of on-site fuel station procedures
- Ability to count and calculate for cash handling and sales transactions
- Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with customers and partners
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to safely work with sharp objects
- Ability to operate pallet jack (for partners at least 18)
- Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment
- Able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
