Service Shop Manager

Job Summary
Lead a team of five or more shop employees performing skilled trades, lower level apprentice craft work, and operation of machines used in production processes. Develop and implement production schedules to ensure effective use of labor, tools, and equipment, while assigning and coordinating tasks based on workload. Monitor performance metrics, allocate resources, and provide coaching and feedback to maintain high quality service at optimal efficiency. Ensure processes and environmental conditions comply with local, national regulatory agencies, and the organization's safety standards. Evaluate, check, and sign all completed items leaving the shop facility. Maintain the ISO and Motion Quality System as well as the Safety and Loss Prevention program. Manage vendor, branch personnel, and Motion specialist relationships. Typically requires ten years of related experience and strong mechanical knowledge of machining processes.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ten (10) or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage, motivate and handle multitude of priorities daily
- Ability to operate shop equipment safely
- Knowledge of various metals and measurements used in machining processes
- Knowledge of machinist, CAD and/or CAM software
- Knowledge of mathematics and its application
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
- Knowledge of monitoring gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
- Ability to read hydraulic schematics
- Strong mechanical knowledge
