Job Summary

Monitor students' academic progress in targeted areas and document growth while designing developmentally appropriate activities aligned with each student's services plan. Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet varying needs, maintaining appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety. Maintain effective communication with administration, parents, counselors, and related service providers. Travel between private school locations within Watertown for an itinerant, part-time position up to 18 hours per week. This grant-funded role supports eligible students in Watertown private schools, focusing on literacy and math within special education frameworks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Valid DESE Teacher of Moderate Disabilities
  • Dual licensure - TMD and content area

  • Master's degree
  • Experience working with students with a range of disabilities in a school setting
  • Common Core and MA state curriculum frameworks
  • knowledge of special education strategies in teaching literacy and math
  • is organized, flexible, creative, and a self-reflective with a growth mindset
  • Ability to travel between private school locations within Watertown
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the school day
  • Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed to support student learning
  • Ability to use a computer and other technology for instruction and documentation
  • Ability to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, which may require responding quickly to student needs
