Job Summary
Oversee daily operations of the service department, including shop and field technicians, by scheduling, dispatching, and prioritizing work orders to maximize productivity. Review and approve work orders for accuracy, monitor key performance indicators like billable hours and cycle time, and conduct regular performance reviews with ongoing coaching. Recruit, onboard, and train new staff while serving as the primary point of escalation for customer service concerns. Collaborate with sales and parts teams to support revenue goals, ensure proper parts availability, and maintain technician certifications and safety compliance. Forecast staffing needs, assist in budget planning, and submit departmental reports on revenue and labor efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the material handling or related industrial equipment industry
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or management role within a service environment
- In-depth knowledge of material handling equipment including forklifts, aerial lifts, and related equipment
- Understanding of warranty processes and manufacturer service requirements
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, service manuals, and technical documentation
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
- PPE is required in shop and field environments
Desired Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in business, operations, or related field
- Working knowledge of EquipSoft or similar dealer management software
