Job Summary
Forecast department goals and maintain maximum production while controlling costs and building loyal clientele. Direct and schedule service technicians, provide technical assistance, and handle all customer complaints with fair estimates. Comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste and OSHA standards. Monitor efficiency using productivity controls, warranty reports, and comeback data while ensuring clean work areas and up-to-date service files. Operate heavy equipment, crawl under vehicles to inspect work, and manage shop tools and parts orders. Serve as a liaison with factory representatives and maintain good relationships with customers and employees.
Required Qualifications
- Confidence and training to operate heavy equipment on and off the road
- Ability to crawl under cars, trucks, farm equipment, and get in and out of cars, trucks and farm equipment to inspect work completed
- Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to know
- Ability to handle all customer complaints
- Ability to provide fair estimates on costs and time required for repairs and maintenance
- Ability to break down estimates into labor and parts before the job is started
- Ability to ensure that customer's service files are up-to-date and are readily available for reference
- Ability to account for all documents and ensure that none are missing
- Ability to monitor the location and care of shop tools
- Ability to follow up on parts department orders to ensure parts availability
- Ability to understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations
