Job Summary

Coordinate shop repair activities and direct scheduling of service work from the Rental Department, salesmen, and walk-in customers. Perform major non-routine service repairs to customer and company-owned equipment while conducting routine safety checks of shop equipment, tools, and work areas. Oversee, train, and direct the work of equipment technicians, developing and cross-training staff to build a versatile team. Maintain compliance with HR, Safety, and Quality policies by consistently applying practices, developing members, and monitoring accurate record completion for preventive maintenance and warranty information. Address and resolve customer requests, complaints, and concerns promptly while communicating with management regarding personnel or performance issues. Work in a generally favorable indoor shop environment with occasional exposure to production areas, noise, and fumes, requiring availability for after-hour emergency calls and overtime as dictated by workload.

Required Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years of experience in the construction equipment industry
  • Hydraulics, electrical, engines, and power train certification
  • Three (3) years' experience in a lead or supervisory role to include directing/training others, responsibility for workflow and process improvement
  • Thorough technical training, provided by manufacturers, specific to certain equipment
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, schematics, drive trains, and gasoline engines
  • Effective diagnostic knowledge in all areas for most types of construction equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences including management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computer-based business applications
  • Availability as requested/required for after-hour emergency calls, necessary overtime as the workload dictates

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or A combination of education and directly related experience equal to eight (8) years
  • Relevant certifications in equipment service preferred
