Job Summary
Service Engineer for a full-time role inside Supermicro's Global Service Team responsible for fieldwork at customer sites to resolve and repair server systems. Includes on-site and remote troubleshooting in an enterprise environment, leading preventive maintenance, managing repair/parts cycle times, and providing 2nd line support to resellers/distributors. The role requires travel to the field to train or resolve customer issues (up to 25%), strong hardware diagnostics, and collaboration with Technical Account Manager, Service Manager, and Product Manager to define service programs. The candidate will train new service engineers, demonstrate self-sufficiency in the field, and produce meaningful reports/ metrics. Strong technical communication, time management, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment are essential; English proficiency is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1+ years of experience in servicing complex X86 systems and parts preferred
- Associates Degree in electrical technology, electronics, or equivalent military experience (will be considered)
- Work experience in a large enterprise or certification in Windows and Linux environments is a plus
- Hands-on experience with servers (Supermicro, EMC, DELL, HP)
- Solid hardware system diagnostics skills; understanding BIOS, drivers, and application loads as they relate to issues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; project management; time management
- Ability to work in a dynamic, high-pressure environment; travel up to 25%
