Job Summary
Service Engineer responsible for fieldwork at customer sites to resolve and repair server systems as part of the Global Service Team in Jersey City, NJ. The role requires on-site and remote troubleshooting in an enterprise environment, driving preventive maintenance, managing repair/parts cycle times, and providing 2nd line support to resellers/distributors. The engineer will work with Technical Account Manager, Service Manager, and Product Manager to define service programs, contribute fault triage data and training materials, run tests, and travel to the field to train or resolve issues. Strong hardware diagnostics, knowledge of BIOS/drivers, and experience with Linux/Windows environments, plus exceptional communication and time-management skills, are essential. Travel up to 25% and ability to work flexible hours including weekends/holidays if needed. English proficiency required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred
- 2+ years of experience servicing complex X86 systems and parts
- Associates Degree in electrical technology, electronics, or equivalent military experience may be considered
- Work experience in a large enterprise or certification in Windows and Linux environments is a plus
- Hands-on experience with servers (Supermicro, EMC, DELL, HP)
- Solid hardware system diagnostics skills; understanding of BIOS, drivers, and application loads that can cause issues
- Strong technical communication skills to lead investigations with engineers of multiple disciplines
- Excellent written and verbal communication, project management, and time management skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, high-pressure environment
- Familiarity with Linux
