Service Engineer - South Of England (Field Based)

Job Summary

Carry out maintenance, service, and repair work on SFT separation equipment at customer sites across the South of England, including overnight stays and substantial travel. Prepare thoroughly for site visits by ensuring all necessary parts, tools, and equipment are available, and maintain clean working areas on-site and in the workshop. Support workshop operations when required, act professionally to build customer relationships, and clearly communicate issues affecting costs or performance. Complete all required reports accurately, communicate daily movements to the Service Coordinator, and report any equipment or vehicle damage promptly. Take responsibility for the care and maintenance of company-supplied equipment and vehicles according to manufacturer guidelines. Be available for overtime and weekend rotations as needed to meet customer timeframes.

Required Qualifications

  • Qualified to a minimum City & Guilds standard in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Strong mechanical knowledge
  • Solid understanding of health and safety practices in the workplace
  • Background in technical or process engineering
  • Ability to work carefully, methodically, and safely, both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
  • Capable of working to tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive and flexible team player, with the confidence and discipline to work independently both on-site and in the workshop
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment, with the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges
  • Competent in the safe operation of heavy equipment, with knowledge of basic lifting and slinging techniques
  • Physically capable and experienced in meeting the demands of a hands-on, physically demanding role
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK
  • Must be based in and covering the South of England
  • Must be available for regular travel across the UK, with overnight stays
  • Must be available for one weekend in every eight
  • Must be available for necessary overtime to meet customer timeframes
  • Must be available to work weekends as required to support business needs
