Job Summary
Service Coordinator responsibilities include providing verbal supportive counseling to adults with a mental illness living in individual apartments in the Schenectady community, helping stabilize clients in their apartments, and delivering rehabilitative services to support transition to higher independence. Duties include verbal crisis intervention, crisis prevention, medication supervision (counting medications and counseling about use and side effects), teaching daily living skills, maintaining a clean environment to promote independence, facilitating socialization and recreational activities, providing transportation to clients, and promoting inclusion and belonging. The role emphasizes verbal engagement with clients and does not involve personal care or physical restraints. Qualifications emphasize BA preferred, 0.5-1 year in human services preferred, valid driver’s license, personal vehicle for business use, and strong communication and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- BA preferred
- 6 months-1year experience in human services preferred
- Valid and insurable driver's license
- Must have a personal vehicle to use for business purposes
- Experience or education in crisis intervention and prevention preferred
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- The ability to be organized and have good time management skills
- College classes in human services
