Job Summary
Support individuals with daily living tasks including cooking, cleaning, laundry, hygiene, meal planning, grocery shopping, banking, transportation, and medication management. Teach skills based on each person's Individualized Service Plan and assist with scheduling medical and dental appointments. Provide behavioral guidance, administer first aid, and manage medications while maintaining accurate, confidential records. Help individuals participate in community activities, exercise their rights, and resolve concerns. Complete payroll, mileage, and other required forms. Attend weekly, monthly, and quarterly team meetings, fill in for the Team Leader when needed, and carry the team pager. Report maintenance needs and test fire alarm systems. Use your personal vehicle as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to organize and prioritize work tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to present yourself professionally
- Ability to self-direct work and manage tasks independently
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written form
- Ability to participate in and contribute to a participative management structure
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds several times per shift, climbing stairs multiple times per shift, and sitting, standing, and walking as needed
- Knowledge of the field of disabilities
- Skill in using behavioral support practices
- Ability to complete required training, including Medication Certification, Medicaid Waiver Certification, First Aid and CPR, Mandt, and all orientation requirements
- Skill in decision making, judgment, and action during emergency or crisis situations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Skill in locating and accessing community resources
- Must have a valid Virginia driver's license
- Must have a satisfactory criminal history background check
