Service & Commissioning Engineer II

Job Summary
Provide local and out-of-territory commissioning, service technical support, and implementation for full power plant EPC projects, including startup, tuning, testing, and coordination with BOP commissioning. Review contractual and design specifications to identify discrepancies, generate testing reports and documentation using GA drawings, P&ID, and schematics, and perform QA/QC inspections during installation and startup. Verify completion of checklists, turnover packages, and as-built records while coordinating with engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to resolve quality issues. Build Operation and Maintenance manuals and report project progress to the Service Contracts and Equipment Manager to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- College Degree in Engineering, from an accredited 4yr College or University
- Minimum 6 years of experience in power generation, specifically service and/or commissioning
- Minimum 2 years as a Service & Commissioning Engineer I
- Advanced intellectual and application knowledge of power generation systems (engine, generator and electrical systems)
- Experience with QA/QC processes
- Experience with inspection procedures
- Experience with commissioning documentation
- Experience with turnover packages
- Experience with punch list management
- Experience with turnover verification activities
- Successful understanding of how engines and generators are used
- Knowledge of commissioning quality systems
- Knowledge of project turnover requirements
- Extensive technical knowledge of power generation and BOP equipment
- H Advanced computer skills including an excellent understanding and professional experience with the use of computer software programs, such as Microsoft, AutoCAD, CAT ET, etc.
- Successful completion and testing of large scale and complex power generation projects
- Ability to apply advanced knowledge to exercise discretion and judgement in decision making
- Ability to work effectively with others, both inside and outside the company
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Basic public speaking skills
- Ability to organize time and priorities
- Self-motivated
- Able and willing to meet customer requirements for onsite visits
- Able to work long days
- Frequent travel to Customer facilities, Energy Solutions locations, customer offices and job sites requiring overnight stays
- Operate a company vehicle requiring a valid driver's license (driving record must meet company insurance standards and is reviewed annually)
Desired Qualifications
- Additional certificates or endorsements from applicable training related to commissioning and service technician in power generation
- Caterpillar Power Generation experience is highly desirable
- Additional commissioning, controls, QA/QC, or power generation certifications are preferred
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols including Modbus, Ethernet/IP, CANbus, OPC, and similar communication networks is a plus
- PLC programming, troubleshooting, and industrial control system knowledge is a plus
