Job Summary
Service Center Clerk I processes high-volume phone and in-person inquiries, checks in drivers, enters delivery manifests, scans documents, identifies freight with special delivery instructions, distributes bills of Lading, enters data into the dispatch system, works with driver handhelds, and coordinates delivery times with customers. The role requires strong clerical and customer-service skills, proficiency with MS Word/Excel, ability to work under detailed instructions, and the ability to lift up to 20 lbs. Regular attendance and compliance with company policies are expected.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
- Experience in billing, collections, tracing & OS&D preferred
- Computer skills, proficient in MS Word and Excel
- Strong customer service skills
- Good clerical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
- Ability to solve problems with established instructions and processes
- Ability to work under close detailed instruction
- Experience in the transportation industry a plus though not required
- Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by essential functions
- Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
- Must be able to interact well with others
- Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
