Job Summary
Take food and beverage orders, enter them into the POS system, and send them to the kitchen. Serve food and beverages to guests, preparing and garnishing dishes as required, while maintaining product knowledge to inform guests of daily specials and answer menu questions. Adhere to state liquor laws by verifying minimum age requirements, describe wine and specialty beverage recommendations, and see to each guest's special needs including allergies. Prepare table settings, clear tables, run food and beverages, and stock service areas with dining supplies. Ensure immediate response to guest comments and concerns, manage order times, and maintain revenue by preparing checks and collecting accurate payments. Clean tables or counters after guests have finished dining and remove dishes to the kitchen.
Required Qualifications
- state-issued food handling + beverage certifications
- 6+ months of related experience in the hospitality industry
- ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
- ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- ability to speak effectively before guests and groups of co-workers
- ability to navigate and operate computer and Point of Sale (POS) systems
- ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
