Job Summary
Set up side stations, perform prep work, and provide immediate attention to members and guests upon seating. Distribute menus, fill glasses with ice water, and suggest daily specials and wine selections while ensuring correct billing details. Serve food and drinks efficiently using the Orchid Island Steps of Service, place orders via POS, and inform cooks of special instructions. Assemble trays, clear tables, reset with silverware, and remove soiled dishes. Verify check accuracy including taxes and tips, present bills, and advise supervisors of complaints. Perform clean-up, closing duties, and attend pre-meal meetings as requested. Follow local laws and club policies for alcohol service. Work week days, evenings, weekends, and holidays with varying shifts; early breakfast starts may be required occasionally.
Required Qualifications
- Comparable serving experience
- Of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages
- Ability to read, write and execute basic math skills
- Knowledgeable about the menu, buffet, wine and spirits list
- Ability to time the service of each course
- Learns members' names and their special preferences
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations
- Ability to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend stretch and twist or reach
- Continuous repetitive motions, standing, walking and lifting
- Ability to lift 10 – 30 lbs frequently; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Ability to move dining room furniture to meet floor plan design changes for dining needs
- Physical resolve to work in hot, humid and noisy environment
- Ability to work outside in the typical climate conditions and temperatures of Florida
- Work schedule includes week days, evenings, weekends, holidays as needed to meet dining operational needs
- Work shifts will vary subject to lunch, dinner, and special events
- Early breakfast event shift start time, 6:30 a.m., may be required occasionally, typically 4-6 times a year
Desired Qualifications
- Attending High School / High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma, preferred
