Job Summary
Monitor and observe guests' dining experience to ensure satisfaction, responding promptly to correct any problems. Collect payments, write food orders on slips or enter them into computers, and prepare checks itemizing meal costs and sales taxes. Take food or beverage orders, present menus, and answer questions about items, ingredients, and cooking methods. Serve food and beverages, garnish dishes, and fill condiment containers. Clean tables, roll silverware, stock service areas, and perform floor cleaning duties. Escort guests to tables, assist with reservations, and coordinate with fellow employees to support efficient operations.
Required Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions
- Basic mathematical skills
- Able to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system
- Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)
- Able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food and containers weighing up to 25 pounds
