Sergeant Position-PRN

Job Summary

Coordinate day-to-day security operations for assigned shifts, supervising Security Sergeants and Officers while enforcing policies and procedures. Provide on-the-job training and guidance to staff during cross-over periods, including incident evaluation, response, and notification protocols. Manage work schedules to avoid unauthorized overtime and complete quarterly security audits with accurate reporting. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws while ensuring all personnel hold required certifications in BLS, CPI, and firearms training. Report notable incidents to leadership and support emergency preparedness drills.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience
  • Valid Louisiana driver's license
  • Clean DMV report
  • Successful pass and maintain instruction and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Successful pass and maintain instruction and certification in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI)
  • Successful pass and maintain instruction and certification in firearms training
  • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of information
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Ability to work in an environment with potential exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue
  • Ability to work in an environment with potential exposure to communicable diseases
  • Ability to work in an environment with potential exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
  • Residence in Louisiana (not Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, or Washington D.C.)

Desired Qualifications

  • 1 year supervisory experience in security related field
  • Completion of Certified Police Officer of Standard Training Policy Academy (state or federal)
  • Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification
