Job Summary
Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel, and evaluate employees while ensuring the care, custody, and adherence to rules for inmates, detainees, and USMS in assigned areas. Direct searches for contraband, provide security, and monitor staff and detainees during activities and work duties. Read, review, and update inmate records regarding health, safety, and facility security; prepare and maintain all related forms and reports. Promote positive social skills through behavioral modeling and intervene when inappropriate conduct is observed, providing regular feedback to staff. Maintain accountability for personnel, detainees, and property while adhering to safety practices. Respond rapidly to security or medical codes, transport offenders via vehicle or foot, and occasionally restrain assaultive offenders. Perform other duties as assigned by the Warden.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to hear and understand verbal communication
